We easily take for granted the things we have because we are busy worrying. And DailyMail found a study that says we spend one hour and 50 minutes a day worrying. That adds up to 28 days a year, and 5 total years of our adult lives.
In some instances, it causes us to lose sleep and it affects our relationships.
I can tell when my wife or my mom are worrying, because they are chewing on their lips or they have a scab where they have chewed off their lips. Cheeks too. It cracks me up when I look over at a car next to me and I see a woman just gnawing away at her lips. It’s that moment that I can tell, she is worrying about something.
So, what are we busy worrying about?
Here are the top 10 things:
1. Work
2. Money
3. Being late
4. A friend or relative’s health
5. Our own health
6. Relationships
7. Missing a plane or bus
8. Not waking up to our alarm
9. Our appearance
10. Our family’s safety
Other things we worry about that didn’t make the top 10 include growing old alone, our pet’s health, being the victim of a crime, terrorism, and getting cheated on.
For me, I worry about being a good father, setting a good example for my son, making sure he can follow his dreams and live a happy life, making sure my wife is happy, and being happy with myself and being successful. That doesn’t necessarily mean being rich. Just exceeding my own goals and continuing to have the opportunity to chase my dreams.
