As of 1:42 central standard time, reported 34 people are dead and 170 wounded after multiple bombs went off first at the Brussels Airport at Zaventem and one soon after at the Maelbeek metro station early Tuesday morning. The city of Brussels is currently in a state of lockdown after raising their terror threat level.

ISIS is currently taking responsibility for the attacks via a post by the Amaq Agency, which NBC has confirmed to be legitimate. At this time, officials say that two of the explosions that occurred in the airport were caused by suicide bombers and that all explosions were terrorist related.

Jef Versele was checking in at Zaventem when he heard an explosion.

A lot of people were in panic. I saw a lot of blood, a lot of people were injured. People were crying, on the floor, covered by parts of the roofing. I saw a lot of leg injuries, a lot of people couldn’t move anymore. There were quite a lot of people injured. In the departure hall — you saw people storming out. It was like run for your life. Versele said.

An outpour of support and prayers for Brussels has been shown on Twitter with celebrities and civilians alike using the hash tags #Brussels and #PrayForBrussels.

Kendall Jenner tweeted out, “My heart goes out to all those in Brussels. Praying for you. Praying for the world.”

While the message of wanting and waiting for peace floods the internet, only time will tell just how deep and severe the damage is to the citizens of Brussels and their families.
