Why I Am Obsessed With The Final Five

My life has been taken over by the Olympics.

I love watching all Olympic Sports, but when it comes done to it, my all time favorite to watch is gymnastics.

The Final Five have become a force to be reckoned with both on the floor and in the media. The Gold Medalists continuously prove themselves with their intricate techniques, near-perfect routines, and incredible teamwork.

The best thing about them- they all bring something different to the table.

Aly Raisman

This girl is the definition of confidence. She always has her game face on and as the Team Captain this year, she provides the “big sister” supportive role to the other girls of the five. While she is very versatile and great at many events, her strong suit is most definitely her floor routine. The level of difficulty in her routine is very risky, however she rises to the occasion every time.

2) Gabrielle Douglas

Some call her Gabby, some call her the flying squirrel. The nickname sprouted from the incredible height she gets on her uneven bars. Though she is the 2012 All-Around Champion, the uneven bars have proven to be her best event. She helped the U.S. achieve gold with her amazing performance at the Team All-Around earlier this week. Here is Gabby showcasing her talent at the P&G Gymnastics Championship.

3) Laurie Hernandez

Laurie is most definitely the performer of the group. She always puts on a show and people love watching her perform (including me). At only age 16, she has proven to be one of the best gymnasts in the world. Her strongest event is definitely the beam as she received 15.700 in the Women’s All-Around Finals. Here she is in her Olympic Trials.

4) Madison Kocian

The girl may be small, but she is mighty. Debuting at the Olympics, she has tremendous pressure on her shoulders. Notorious for her uneven bars, she came to Rio ready to win. Helping her team get gold earlier this week, Madison scored the highest in her event.

5) Simone Biles

Last, but most definitely not least is Simone Biles. Said to be one of the best gymnasts of all time, she has taken the world by storm. She is incredible at every event she does, so it is very hard to say which is her best event. However, one event that stood out to me was her vault. Receiving a near perfect score, the now two-time gold medalist wowed the audience with her difficulty and technique in the Women’s Team All-Around Final. Here she is showcasing her incredible talent on vault at the P&G Gymnastics Championships earlier this year.

Tune in Sunday night to watch the female gymnasts battle for gold in the Women’s Vault Final.
