It’s been 10 years now since I have made Peoria home. It’s been an amazing 10 years filled with ups and downs. And it’s because of our listeners and YOU that make everything possible and so much fun.
Going into college, I was going to be a HS Math Teacher, but Linear Algebra at ISU was rough… both times. I can still substitute, so if this radio thing doesn’t work out, I hope to be apart of our schools!
About 5 years ago, I started volunteering at Jamieson School here in Peoria. When I started, I didn’t realize that it would change my life.
Teacher Barb Schacht (now retired), invited me to spend time with her class room. What started with just hanging out and talking with the kids turned into hanging with them during gym, making music videos with them, DJing their dances, and even DJing events like Courageous Pacers on the Peoria Riverfront and PwUP events (People with Unlimited Potential).
And our Courageous Pacers event gets bigger and bigger every year!
I love watching our children having a great time smiling, dancing, laughing, and just being care free. I see so many beautiful, talented, intellegent children who are going to go out into the world someday and become leaders, dream chasers, and people who will one day change the world.
All because they have teachers who care! Teachers are the most under appreciated people in the world. But, it’s their spirit, love, and passion for teaching the future that keeps them going every day. That, takes a special kind of person to want to do that. They have one of the most important jobs in the world, and I can’t thank them enough for what they do!
We all know Illinois isn’t perfect, but our school board, administrations, and teachers are doing everything they can, every day, to ensure our children have the best shot at a successful life and future.
Thank you for all that you do. And thank you for honoring me with the “Community Contribution Award” at last nights board meeting.
I have never chased an award to prove that I am a great DJ. I don’t need an award to know that I have “The best morning show”, or that I’m “The best talent.” This award means more to me than any interview I have ever done, concert I’ve gone to, or artist I have met. This is bigger than what I do in radio, and it’s something that I will cherish forever. And it’s my hope that my boys will not follow in my foot steps neccessarily, but create their own path that involves being a part of something special. And this award is the most special thing to happen to me in my 10 year and counting radio career.
There is nothing more special to me than hearing a child laugh and knowing they are “just being kids.” It has been my honor to have so much fun with your children and I can’t wait to watch them grow and be the future leaders of the world!
