Snapchat is becoming more popular than ever, so I asked listeners yesterday what rules we should create for proper Snapchat etiquette! Here’s what we collectively came up with!
- Don’t post a million pictures of your kid (or your pet) doing nothing. We get it your child is cute. But they looked just as cute sleeping in the first 20 snap pictures we went through, we get the point!
2. Don’t put a snap video showcasing an entire song you’re listening to in the car (um, hello, that’s illegal for one, don’t snap and drive), or an entire TV show. If we want to listen to that song, we’ll go look it up on our own… same with the TV show. Unless it’s already a TV show we watch and then you’re just giving us spoilers and that’s kind of crappy of you.
3. Do post more videos than pictures. If you’re going to post a handful of cute selfie with different animal ears, save it and put it on your Instagram.
4. Don’t make your snap story more than 60 seconds long. If the Motion Picture Association of America should be called in to assign it a rating, it’s TOO LONG!
5. If you wouldn’t show your snap story to your mother, then don’t do it. Just because the pictures disappear after 24 hours, doesn’t mean it can’t live on the internet forever. Use your head when snapping.
6. Ask yourself before posting: is this something my friends and family would actually care about, or am I posting to be self-indulgent? This filter of a question might help you with #4 as well.
What would you add to the rules list? Put it in the comments here:
